Renew Us, O God!

Renew Us O God! …

A dear farmer friend of mine sends this today:

“The drought now in the third year is again making the prospects for a wheat crop unlikely;

The earth mourns and withers, the world languishes and withers; Isaiah 24:4

however as in the times of Elijah;

After many days the word of the Lord came to Eli′jah, in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.” 1 Kings 18:1

I believe that God is ever faithful, the creator and source of love, justice, grace, and mercy. His abundance has blessed me beyond measure.”

My friend is at a place and time in his faith far beyond my own, one I pray to acquire.

Then I realize: faith is a gift, not an acquisition, although I can, and will, pray to receive more of it.

On this Passover and Easter, Renew Us, O God! May You continue to speak right into our hearts, bypassing our little minds when necessary, of resurrection and renewal, of comrades for Life’s journey like Jesus and the matriarchs & patriarchs, and our dearest friends: the best of companions and guides.
